2. Applications:
a) Production of acetvlene.(The reaction CaC2 + 2 H2O → C2H2 + Ca(OH)2)
b) Production of calcium cvanamide (CaC2 + N2 → CaCN2 + C)
c) Steel making.Used in the desulfurisation of iron (pig iron, cast iron and steel)
d) Carbide lamps and others.
3. Storage:
a) Calcium carbide drums should be sealed;
b) Stored in dry, cool and draughty place;
c) Should be separated from other combustible and explosive materials
